Town of Claremont is calling for entries for its fourth annual Art Award & Exhibition, which will include sculpture for the first time. With a total prize pool of $10 000, plus the chance to be exhibited to thousands of people, there should be no shortage of willing entrants.
To enter artists must be aged 16 or over and reside in Western Australia. Entries are encouraged from all artists, whether they are local residents, emerging talent or established artists. Accepted mediums are Acrylic, Oil, Print, Watercolour, Mixed Media, Pastel, Textile, Work on Paper and Sculpture.
The first prize, which is acquisitive, is $5000, second prize is $2500, third prize $1500. The Claremont Local Award returns in 2017, with a prize of $500 and there is also a People’s Choice Award for the most popular artwork as voted by the public visiting the exhibition of $500.
Selected artworks will be exhibited at Number One Claremont, 308 Stirling Highway in September with all works for sale.
“Now in its fourth year, the Claremont Art Award and Exhibition has built up a strong reputation among Perth’s artistic community,” said Mayor Jock Barker. “Many artists are including it in their calendar and it also provides art lovers with the opportunity to purchase high quality, unique, locally produced artworks.”
