SHINE Community Services

SHINE Community Services is jointly funded by the Towns of Claremont, Mosman Park and Cottesloe and the Shire of Peppermint Grove, along with the State Government's HACC program.  Their services cater for seniors, younger people with disabilities, and carers of both groups. Services are designed to help people to continue to live in their own homes. SHINE aims to promote independence by helping clients find new ways of performing tasks and by only carrying out tasks which people are physically unable to perform themselves, as well as promoting well-being and an active social life.  Some of the services which assist clients in their homes and the community include:

West Coast Community Centre

West Coast Community Centre is situated at the Grove Precinct, 1 Leake Street, Peppermint Grove.

The centre provides a range of classes, tours and social activities with a nominal charge for each lesson.  Membership costs are minimal and there is a concession for Senior Citizens and Health Care Card holders.

Bay View Community Centre

The Bay View Community Centre offers a selection of interesting and educational activities across a range of subjects.

Western Suburbs Cares 

Western Suburbs Cares is a community-focused not-for-profit home care provider supporting people with home care packages, as well as those who may be seeking services privately. 

They focus on wellness, enablement and reablement to help you live a healthy, independent life at home for as long as possible.  Services include domestic assistance, personal care, nursing, occupational therapy, home and garden maintenance and social supports.  Western Suburbs Cares also provides free community education events.

Compass 

Compass is an Australian Government initiative in response to the National Plan to Respond to the Abuse of Older Australians. 

Compass works to protect older Australian's right to independence, participation, care, self-fulfilment and dignity. They raise awareness across the country by simplifying the process of connecting people to services and information that can help them. 

Information and resources are available for both older Australians as well as those who care for them.
