The Town of Claremont’s newest event – Art in the Open – will showcase a temporary artwork for viewing across two days and two nights from 14-16 March 2025.
Internationally recognised Australian artist Tanya Schultz and her team Pip & Pop will transform the green at the Bay View Community Centre into a magical garden, complete with colour-saturated shapes, plants, mushrooms and flowers.
Pip & Pop artworks have been displayed in museums and galleries across the globe, including in Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates.
Mayor Jock Barker said, “It’s exciting to have someone of this calibre create an immersive art piece for the Town. The area outside the Bay View Community Centre will be transformed into a colourful, vibrant and cheerful utopia for everyone to enjoy and experience.”
There will be lots of fun spots for a magical photo and children’s activities. During the day children are invited to decorate a mini pot and plant their own magical seed and after dark they can get their face painted to glow under the UV lights! Local café Stand’In Room will have some specially made sweet treats available for purchase in addition to their usual menu.
The magic garden will be available to view at the following times:
- Friday, 14 March 6pm – 8:30pm
- Saturday, 15 March 9am – 4pm and 6pm – 8:30pm
- Sunday, 16 March 9am – 3pm.
Admission is free and the exhibit is suitable for all ages.
