The centre is set to open its doors in September and will accommodate the library resources and its existing wide range of services and programs, with the addition of plenty of parking and space for community activities.

Current library services will continue to operate at its current location until mid-August, when it will briefly close for a few weeks in preparation for the relocation.

Mayor Jock Barker said he was delighted with the relocation.

“This new centre is the perfect location, with views of our ever-green Claremont Park and a coffee shop by locally owned café Stand’In Room,” he said.

“In addition to that, Council has approved the creation of a community garden, which is a wonderful initiative to support social connectivity and offer locally grown produce to our community.”

“There will be something for everyone. I look forward to seeing the range of services being rehomed into this newly refurbished and purpose-built facility.”

An open day will be held to mark this special occasion and further details will be provided on the website.

Council will in due course review the future use of 327 Stirling Hwy where the Hub & Library has been located since 2014.
