Concepts for a new community garden / park at the Bay View Community Centre have been invited from Landscape Architecture Students from The University of Western Australia (UWA)
The brief was for them to transform a vacant bowling green area into an attractive community space that focused on sustainability, accessibility, and sociability.
Mayor Jock Baker said of the competition, “Before we make a final decision on the design, we wanted to see what creative ideas students might have for a green space, whether it be a floral garden, fruiting or otherwise. The scope for the competition was broad, allowing the students to ‘unleash their creativity’.”
With the competition closing on 28 November, the judging panel including representatives of Australian Institute of Landscape Architects and Council, will meet on Tuesday 3 December to select first and second prize. The winning team will receive $2,500 while the runner up team will receive $1,000.
The design concepts will be on display at the Town of Claremont Administration Building, 308 Stirling Hwy.
Visit during business hours from Wednesday 4 December to Thursday 12 December and have your say on the exciting concepts.
