It is with much sadness that the Town has been notified of the passing of Freeman of the Town, Mrs Joan Tocock.

Joan passed away peacefully at the age of 105 and leaves behind a long legacy and countless hours volunteering around the Town.

With a passion for the environment, Joan dedicated her time to the rehabilitation and revegetation of Lake Claremont, and she was instrumental in the formation of the Friends of Lake Claremont volunteer group.

She also helped restore the Claremont Museum and volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 35 years.

In 2013 her dedication was recognised where she was made a Freeman of the Town.

The Town was fortunate to celebrate her 100th birthday with a special function and a celebration with the Library's knitting group that she was a member of.

Our thoughts are with Joan's family and friends during this time of mourning.
