Centre upgrades
In the cooler months ahead, the following improvements will be made to the Claremont Aquatic Centre:
Bore renewal
A new bore is being drilled which is used to water the gardens.
Renewing the bore will provide a cost-effective water source and contribute to sustainable water management.
Estimated start date: 14 April 2025
Estimated duration: 7 days
Impact: Possible impact to the centre's entry requiring side gate access for patrons.
Grass works
The main grass area, worn and weedy areas will be replaced with new lush turf.
Estimated start date: Exact date to be advised
Estimated duration: 6-8 weeks
Impact: The main grass area will be off limits as work is completed.
Chemical system changeover to salt chlorinator
We are transitioning to a salt chlorination system for pool sanitisation, which offers enhanced safety and greater cost-effectiveness compared to our current method.
This change will not only improve the overall maintenance of the pool but also provide a more sustainable solution for ensuring water quality.
The salt chlorinator will reduce the need for harsh chemicals, offering a safer environment for pool users while also lowering long-term operational costs.
Estimated start date: 28 April 2025
Estimated duration: 2 months
Impact: This should have no impact on patrons other than a possible day of closure.
Change room refurbishment
Both the male and female change rooms will be upgraded and refurbished with more modern and up-to-date amenities.
Estimated start date: Exact date to be advised
Estimated duration: 3 months
Impact: There will be limited change room facilities during these works.
To lessen the impact, the change rooms will be upgraded one at a time.
During the closure of each change room, the all accessible change rooms will be available for use.
